Joint Pain

A symptom of some physical hurt or disorder in between two or more bones of the dog or cat. When you notice your cat or dog having more trouble with normal activities, such as getting on the couch or a daily walk, it can be a sign of joint problems. A visit to the veterinarian is necessary to determine what is causing the joint pain and to determine a treatment.

How to Recognize

If your pet shows a decreased interest in activity or appears to have difficulty with everyday tasks, such as walking or getting into your car, your pet may have joint pain. Look out for signs such as stiff walking and unwillingness to jump.

Causes of Joint Pain

Joint pain is commonly due to Arthritis or Hip or elbow dysplasia.

Diagnosis

Your veterinarian will give your pet a physical exam and look for things such as inflamed joints.

Treatment for Joint Pain

Pets with severe arthritis may need surgery and a total joint replacement. Other pets may simply need to change their diet to lose weight or take an anti-inflammatory.

Pet Insurance

When adding a dog or cat to your family you want to make sure your pet is happy, healthy and protected. During its lifetime your pet is exposed to many illnesses and diseases and some breeds are affected by a congenital disease which is a condition existing at birth. At these moments when your pet is ill or maybe needs surgery, you want to be protected for the unexpected and high veterinarian costs.
